MLS Donates To Red Cross

At the May 7, 2008 meeting the Los Cabos, MLS committed to donate $10,000 USD to the local Cruz Roja (Red Cross) chapters, to be evenly split between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Unlike many parts of the world, in México the Cruz Roja are our first responders. Their ambulances and paramedics are called to the scene of emergencies from the East Cape almost to Todos Santos, at no cost to the injured party, 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Their four ambulances responded to over 1,000 calls for help in the first four months of 2008. And yet they receive no state or municipal funding, relying only on an annual fund-raising drive called the Collecta each year. The Collecta is traditionally held in March throughout México. This year, however, the Collecta netted only about one-half of the needed $120,000 USD it takes to keep the ambulances on the road. Cruz Roja officials note that approximately $90 US ($1,000 pesos) will keep an ambulance on the road for one day. The MLS has made this donation in recognition of the invaluable contribution the Cruz Roja makes to Los Cabos, and encourages the community to follow suit and chip in as well. Donations can be made at the Cruz Roja offices, or you may call 143-3300. Any size donation will be welcome.

Terrazas Las Fuentes Re-Organized, Re-priced

Coci Homes, the developers of Terrazas Las Fuentes, have re-organized their sales and marketing efforts, and are rewarding buyers with an approximately 20% reduction in price. The enclave of 11 arch-view homes, located on the corridor a few minutes drive from Cabo San Lucas, offers three- and four-bedroom designs with high end finishes and private yards. Options include pools, premium appliance packages and working fireplaces. Financing is available for US, Canadian and Mexican citizens. Contact any MLS member realtor for information or to arrange a tour.

Coci is also planning a 250 home development targeted at the ‘active senior’ market in recognition of the growing number of Americans and Canadians choosing to retire in Los Cabos. Further details of the project, estimated at the $300-600,000 price point, will be revealed Fall 2008.

A yacht club is available for owners in Ventanas. The property management offices will provide both typical management services and also optional vacation rental homes not in use by the owner. Ventanas has two-, three- and four-bedroom residences, complete with upscale finishes and premium appliances. A design service is available, and gardener service is included in the monthly home owner’s dues. At press time, prices for homes in Ventanas Residencial started at $290,000 USD for a 1,489 sq ft home, to $800,000 USD for a 4,109 sq ft home on a large lot.
