The new entertainment district at Vidanta Los Cabos wows
By Ashley Alvarado
Talk about gilding the lily. Vidanta Los Cabos—home to the exquisite Grand Mayan resort—already features some of the most stunning architecture and vistas in the region, with triple-tiered pools, ultra-luxe accommodations, and an on-site spa so indulgent it would make Oprah whimper. And now it has introduced a world-class entertainment district that promises to change the way people experience Los Cabos.
The district—a joint venture of Grupo Vidanta and Hakkasan Group—knows how to make a splash. The grand opening weekend February 23–25 included performances by international superstars Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, and Zedd. It was a celebration worthy of the first four venues to open: OMNIA Dayclub, Herringbone restaurant, the new Casa Calavera culinary concept, and SHOREbar.
Didn’t score an invite to the exclusive festivities? Fear not, here we offer a visual tour of the new venues, which were designed by the renowned architectural firm Rockwell Group.
Billed as “the ultimate party destination,” the OMNIA Dayclub is the perfect all-day beachfront escape. In addition to a sparkling central pool, there’s a mix of poolside VIP areas and two-story VIP bungalows complete with their own private infinity plunge pools and chaise lounges. Weekdays, you’ll enjoy peak relaxation poolside. Then, come the weekend, it’s all about creating an all-day party vibe featuring internationally recognized DJs spinning. An original concept from Hakkasan Group, Casa Calavera was designed to reflect its Los Cabos location. Think Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) meets the beach. Located next to the OMNIA Dayclub, Casa Calavera features that same laidback vibe and weekend party theme. The aesthetic is Mexican to its core, with an open-air design, Mexican tilework, handcrafted wooden furniture, and more. The menu—both when it comes to plates and cocktails—honors México’s rich culinary traditions. Expect tableside guacamole, elotes, margaritas, mojitos, and tacos galore. Food Network favorite Brian Malarkey—a veteran of Top Chef and The Taste—introduced the “fish meats field” concept restaurant Herringbone first in the United States, with locations in La Jolla, Santa Monica, Las Vegas, and Waikiki. Now he’s bringing the first-ever international installment to Los Cabos and Vidanta. The theme here is “California Coastal Cuisine,” and visitors can expect creations like tuna tartar with tomato-ginger salsa and Buffalo octopus, plus a daily oyster bar featuring innovative, seafood-forward dishes. It’s a seamless marriage of culinary creativity and locally sourced ingredients. Learn more at www.herringboneeats.com.
The eye-catching open-air pavilion will own your Instagram feed with its curved thatched roof and statement-making pendant lighting fixtures. The otherwise casual spot overlooks one of the Grand Mayan’s main pools, the perfect venue for enjoying one of the bar’s yummy and potent cocktails. Hungry? There’s a vintage van parked at SHOREbar that offers a menu of small bites and shareables. Learn more at www.shorebarloscabos.com.
