Francisco Estrada Hacienda el Coyote Restaurant & Tequila Lounge This downtown Cabo San Lucas restaurant and tequila lounge is a celebration of the best of México, from the traditional flavors served across the country to the nation’s spirit— also known as tequila. The attentive service and well-executed menu make for an always-enjoyable experience. (Learn more about the space’s potential as a wedding venue in “Wedding Wonderland,” page 20.) There’s a gorgeous palapa, as well as patio dining and an indoor air-conditioned dining space. Chef Sergio Jimenez expertly prepares traditional Mexican specialties like cuitlacoche crepes, tacos, tamales, and enchiladas, as well as chicken en mole. Fresh fish and seafood is available, including Azteca shrimp sautéed in chipotle lime and tequila sauce and lobster crepes with goat cheese, squash blossoms and roasted tomatillo cream sauce. Another heartier option is beef tenderloin roasted with agave and served with chocolate-chile guajillo coffee sauce and mashed potatoes. Finish your evening on a high note, with churros you can dip into melted chocolate. Children are welcome; there is even a special menu. Valet parking. Invita Bistro The most beautiful window in Cabo San Lucas looks out across the festively lit gazebo in the center of the town square, Plaza Amelia Wilkes, toward colorful villas clinging to a hillside. After a few glasses of Chianti and several helpings of Invita Bistro’s homemade breads and pastas, it’s easy to imagine one has been transported to chef Antonello Lauri’s hometown of Rome. The expansive window and enormous wine-themed painting from local artist Yandi Monardo are lovely, but the heart of the restaurant’s charm lies in its family-recipe Italian dishes, many of which date back several generations.
