Checking In

These Los Cabos hotels offer unique retreats so sweet that you’ll never want to check out

By Ashley Alvarado

With its gorgeous beaches, stunning natural wonders, countless adventures, and an average temperature of 77 degrees, Los Cabos is a world-class destination that continues to invest heavily in creating and maintaining the tourism infrastructure to delight the roughly 2 million visitors who arrive each year. The accommodations that line the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula offer a host of experiences, catering to guests’ unique preferences and budgets. Here we highlight a handful of our favorites.

Los Cabos hotels are home to some of the region’s best restaurants, including El Meson

Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort

A household name, the Hilton resort in Los Cabos nevertheless offers unexpected levels of indulgence to travelers seeking luxury, familiarity, and new adventures.

Stay: Enjoy the best of two worlds when you opt for La Vista Club, the collection of 65 guest rooms on the top floors of the Hilton Los Cabos. You’ll enjoy a boutique experience—concierge service, exclusive pool area with butler service, daily pressing of garments, Salvatore Ferragamo bath amenities, silk bathrobes, and more—along with the grandeur that comes with the larger resort. And, at the La Vista Club Lounge, you’ll enjoy breakfasts from the on-site El Meson restaurant, poolside snacks, and a social hour complete with hors d’oeuvres, wine, and spirits.

Eat: There are several on-site dining options, including the formidable Azul bar, but we’re partial to Vela, which fuses refined Italian dishes with locally sourced ingredients and inspiration. Try the Oaxacan mole linguini or the corn risotto made with chile de árbol.

Do: You don’t want to miss the extraordinary opportunity to experience the hatching of the Olive Ridley sea turtle. From late July to early November, hundreds of sea turtles climb the beach that lines the Hilton Los Cabos to find the perfect place to dig nests and lay eggs. Once these eggs hatch, you get to enjoy watching adorable, tiny sea turtles march toward the water. The Hilton Los Cabos has received certification from Semarnat & Profepa environment agency and is recognized as a partner is protecting the turtles during this crucial period.

Eat: The revamped menu at the marina-front LightHouse eatery is delightful. With ladies´ night on Wednesdays and live music on Friday and Saturday nights, this beautiful place comes to life. It’s also the perfect spot to people watch and have breakfast on the marina.

Do: Party poolside right above the marina at Tesoro’s popular SkyPool and its hot tubs. You’ll love the cocktail lineup, especially when paired with stellar marina views, and the Vista Roof Cuisine.

Hacienda Encantada

Hacienda Encantada

Here’s a one-of-a-kind, family-owned resort that honors the traditions of Mexican cuisine, culture, and architecture while keeping guest experience top of mind.

Stay: The Hacienda Encantada amenities were designed with traveling families in mind. The 2,200-square-foot, two-bedroom presidential suite can accommodate up to eight people and can be reserved separately or as part of a package that includes airfare.

Eat: A great perk for guests is Hacienda Encantada’s all-inclusive dine-out program, through which people can enjoy meals at both the on-site restaurants and the Marina Golden Zone spots along the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

Do: The on-site spa offers one of the most expansive experience menus we have ever seen, and it warrants multiple visits during your stay. Start with the signature massage meant to fight off jet lag and any associated eye puffiness. Come back for the seaweed body treatment that includes a full-body sea salt exfoliation.

Chef Volker Romeike’s Pitahayas is a standout at Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar.

Eat: There are several great restaurants at the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar, but chef Volker Romeike’s Pitahayas is a standout. Dine on innovative dishes that blend Asian influences and local ingredients for dishes like carnitas lumpia and grilled octopus marinated in yuzu and soy sauce.

Do: The little ones will love the Adventure Kids Club, where children 4–11 can spend an hour or the day, playing and exploring.
