Café des Artistes
The type of artistry we see displayed day in and out at Thierry Blouet’s Los Cabos outpost is worthy of a museum. It’s simply masterful, from the decor to the food to the service. It’s been three years since Blouet first introduced his inspired marriage of French cuisine and Mexican ingredients to Southern Baja gourmets, and the restaurant continues to be a standout…even as we are seeing culinary renaissance in the region. Start with mezcal cocktail paired with the fresh tuna tartar topped with pickled vegetables and avocado. On cool winter nights, you’ll crave the signature prawn and pumpkin cream soup. Stellar entrées include roasted duck leg, rack of lamb, short ribs, fresh tuna with peanut crust, broiled octopus with spinach gratine make for a difficult choice. They’re all excellent. A tasting menu might help in the decision-making, with or without wine pairing. Vegetarians will enjoy a veggie symphony or risotto with huitlacoche, a corn mushroom delicacy. The restaurant hosts various special promotions throughout the year, such as an artisanal cheese tasting, or special chef’s dinner with wine pairing. S.A.B.
