Locals and expats flock to Campestre Restaurant Bar for its traditional Mexican flavors and family ambience. The no-frills spot has earned patrons’ loyalty with a menu of home-style Mexican dishes, incredible prices, and top-notch service. What began as a small four-table palapa in 2000 has grown to a spacious dining hall that nevertheless fills quickly. The wait for a table during breakfast may be long, but be patient. It’s totally worth it. The breakfast specials include half-orders of chilaquiles—red or green—with steak or chicken and slices of red onion and avocado. We highly recommend the lobster, the famous tampiqueña, and you might find it difficult to choose between the imperial or coconut shrimp.
