Cabo Wabo Cantina – Los Cabos Magazine #37

cabo wabo_MG_4332_FE-1There’s likely no spot more synonymous with Cabo San Lucas than rocker Sammy Hagar’s famous—and infamous—Cabo Wabo Cantina. His flagship nightclub and restaurant spurred the transformation of Cabo San Lucas into a must-visit destination and helped establish Hagar as a top-rate entrepreneur. Just as you can’t make a first-time trip to New York without taking in the Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty, neither can you journey to Cabo San Lucas without making an appearance at Cabo Wabo Cantina.

Party the night away or opt for a family dinner at the restaurant, which has a menu that competes with any in Los Cabos. The hearty lobster burrito deserves its own cult following. Sammy’s Tequila Shrimp are sautéed in garlic and serrano chile, then deglazed with lime juice and Cabo Wabo Tequila. And the excellent sea scallops are pan-seared, then served with red cabbage slaw and Tequila Cabo Wabo Reposado butter.

And, of course, you can’t leave without sampling the eponymous tequila line. Vicente Guerrero and Lázaro Cárdenas, Cabo San Lucas, (624) 143-1188, www.cabowabocantina.com.
