Romeo & Julieta – LCM 48 Fall 2017

Romeo & Julieta

The hearty mushroom risotto at Romeo & Julieta is a creamy revelation, especially on a cool fall evening.

One delicious way to explore Italy’s many cuisines is Romeo & Julieta’s “Discover Italy” promotion. Each month—while the promotion lasts—the restaurant features a trip around Italy, showcasing the food of one of its 20 regions. The first installment highlighted Calabria, a picturesque region with diverse food like baked eggplant stuffed with sausage. Next up was Sicily, with cuisine influenced by French, Arabia, and North Africa. Pasta alla Norma was named after a 19th-century opera and was one of the featured dishes as a first course, with Sicilian cannoli as dessert. Next came Campania with a calzone and Caprese salad. A choice of octopus or steak roulade was listed on the special menu, with a grand finale of Sfogliatella, a delightful pastry with a lot of history. The regions of the Central Apennines (Umbria, Marche, and Abruzzo) offer a taste of honest, Italian home cooking and was featured at Romeo & Julieta on September 12. Umbria, the only region without a coastline, specializes in meats, and black truffles are home here. The hidden gem of Marche produces olives, and a favorite addictive snack is stuffed olives and deep fried. Throughout the rest of 2017 and into the new year, Romeo & Julieta will showcase the regions of Puglia and Molise on November 4, Emilia-Romagna on December 9, and, on January 20, Tuscany. Of course, you can always order from the spectacular regular menu. Boulevard Marina and Camino del Cerro, Cabo San Lucas, (624) 143-0225, www.restaurantromeoyjulieta.com.
