This downtown Cabo San Lucas restaurant has been a local favorite for many years. One of the reasons becomes obvious once you’ve entered the colorful and inviting interior with photos of its namesake, Pancho Villa, on the walls and decorated papel picado(paper cutouts) hanging from the ceiling. The real test is the food. A large grill occupies an open corner of the main dining area, and it is put to good use nightly. Not only are the steaks, chicken, or pork chops cooked to perfection, but octopus with its smoky flavor cannot be resisted served with a side of avocado salsa. The succulent lobster tails, whole red snapper, and baby back ribs are also in demand. The menu boasts that the chile relleno is the best in town; try it, and you’ll agree it can’t be beat. Those who savor tequila will be awed by the 500 varieties and are welcome to sign up for one of three tastings in the tequila room and receive a certificate. Reservations suggested. S.A.B.
