Los Barriles

A blending of various culinary philosophies creates a dining experience at this family-owned restaurant unlike any other. Special cocktail concoctions such as pineapple or mango mojitos are a great start any time of day. You’ll find Sevechimi (a blend of sashimi and ceviche), oysters on the half shell, tuna tartar with sesame oil, ginger, soy sauce and avocado listed as appetizers, but any could serve as a light lunch. The dinner menu has many delectable dishes, especially red snapper served whole or butterfly cut. Whatever your taste, you can find it here: from pastas to authentic Mexican fare including a mixed molcajete of flank steak, shrimp, and cactus to fall-off-the-bone barbecued ribs slow-baked for seven hours. A highlight of a special dinner are the flamed dishes prepared at your table. In fact, there’s a whole lot of flaming going on here from seafood—including lobster, shrimp, and tuna steak—to USDA Choice steak and even desserts. A grill is rolled out, a white chef’s toque donned by the preparer, and the show is worthy of applause. With all these options, be sure to save room for flaming bananas Foster. The show is worth it. Bring the children; it’s a family affair. Miguel Hidalgo, Cabo San Lucas, (624) 143-1619, www.los-barriles-cabo.com. Daily 7 a.m.–11 p.m. All major credit cards and vouchers accepted. $–$$$ S.A.B.
